Apple Vision Pro receives an upgrade, powered by the powerful M5 chip, equipped with a comfortable dual-loop woven headband
The latest model improves performance, display rendering, battery life, and comfort, while offering innovative features of visionOS 26, new spatial apps, and Apple immersive content
CUPERTINO, California — Apple today announced the launch of the upgraded Apple Vision Pro, powered by the powerful M5 chip, achieving a significant leap in performance, better display rendering, more efficient AI workflows, and improved battery life. The upgraded Apple Vision Pro is equipped with a padded dual-loop woven headband, providing users with a more comfortable wearing experience; visionOS 26 unlocks innovative spatial experiences, including widgets, new Selfies, and interactive "Jupiter" environment. Users can also enjoy millions of apps and thousands of games on the App Store, as well as new Apple immersive videos and films. The Apple Vision Pro equipped with the M5 chip and dual-loop woven headband is now available for pre-order via apple.com.cn. Customers can now schedule a demo at Apple Store retail locations, and the product will be officially available starting October 22 (Wednesday).
"Relying on the breakthrough performance of the M5 chip, the latest generation Apple Vision Pro speeds up performance, displays every detail across the system, and improves battery life, setting a new standard for the possibilities of spatial computing," said Bob Borchers, Apple's Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing. "Paired with the comfortable dual-loop woven headband, the innovative features of visionOS 26, and the new Apple immersive video experience covering adventure, documentaries, music, and sports, the new Apple Vision Pro makes spatial computing more powerful, more entertaining, and more magical than ever before."
M5 Chip Drives Significant Performance Leap
The M5 chip brings a faster, smoother, and more responsive experience for Apple Vision Pro users, and provides developers with new opportunities to create more advanced spatial and immersive experiences. The M5 chip in Apple Vision Pro is built on the third-generation 3-nanometer process technology. The advanced 10-core Central Processing Unit improves multi-threaded performance, speeding up the entire system experience, including shorter app and widget loading times and a more responsive web browsing experience. The new generation 10-core Graphics Processing Unit architecture supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading, empowering developers to add stunning details to lighting, shadows, and reflections in games.
With the support of the M5 chip, Apple Vision Pro renders 10% more pixels on the custom micro-OLED display than the previous model, presenting images with every detail visible, clearer text, and finer imagery. Apple Vision Pro also increases the refresh rate to 120Hz to reduce motion blur when users look around their real environment, and makes the Mac virtual display experience smoother. The Apple Vision Pro equipped with the M5 chip also features a dedicated R1 chip, which processes input from 12 cameras, 5 sensors, and 6 microphones, and streams new images to the display within 12 milliseconds, presenting the world around the user in real time. The high-performance battery provides up to 2.5 hours of regular usage on a single charge, and up to 3 hours of video playback1. Users can connect to power to supply the battery at home, in the office, or on the commute, allowing for longer and easier use of Apple Vision Pro.
Compared to the previous model, the 16-core Neural Engine makes AI-driven system experiences (such as taking Selfies, converting photos into spatial scenes, etc.) run up to 50% faster, and third-party apps run up to 2 times faster2.
New Dual-Loop Woven Headband Provides More Comfortable Wearing Experience
The dual-loop woven headband brings a more comfortable wearing experience for users. The upper and lower straps of this headband are connected into one through a three-dimensional weaving process, forming a unique double-arc structure that is cushioned, breathable, and stretchable. The elastic fabric arc structure of the lower strap is embedded with tungsten metal inserts to provide counterweight, improving comfort, balance, and stability. The fit adjustment knob has dual functions and is easy to operate, allowing users to adjust the tightness according to their head shape. The new dual-loop woven headband is available in S, M, and L sizes, can be purchased separately, and is compatible with previous Apple Vision Pro models. Customers can easily find the suitable size through the iPhone version of the Apple Store app.
visionOS 26 Brings Powerful Spatial Experience
visionOS 26 brings a series of powerful spatial experiences to Apple Vision Pro. Widgets seamlessly integrate into the user's space and reappear every time the user wears Apple Vision Pro, allowing users to easily check time or weather, play music or podcasts, and decorate space with photos. Selfies are stunningly upgraded, making communication experiences in apps like FaceTime more intimate and natural. Spatial scenes use generative AI to add vivid depth to photos, bringing memories to life. Users can play 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide-angle videos shot with popular sports cameras to appreciate videos in the intended way, while creators can publish videos in corresponding formats on the Safari browser. In iPadOS 26.1, which will be released later this autumn, the Apple Vision Pro app lands on iPad, providing users with another practical way to discover new content, schedule app and game downloads, find usage tips, and quickly access Apple Vision Pro information.
Explore New Apps, Content, and Games
Apple Vision Pro can use millions of apps, including over 3,000 apps specifically built for visionOS. Users can design their dream home with HomeByMe, choose clothing with Balenciaga, and browse exquisite paintings in Art Authority Museum. They can explore beautiful scenery around the world through Epic Earth and Explore POV, turn the space around them into a planetarium with Space Vision, or travel through history and back to the past in D-Day: The Camera Soldier.
At the same time, Apple Vision Pro remains an excellent entertainment device. Users can use the new Apple Vision Pro to experience concerts in Amplium in unprecedented ways; follow supported teams through official apps of major sports leagues; and enjoy a private cinema experience on a screen equivalent to 100 feet (approximately 3.05 meters) wide through mainstream streaming service apps.
Apple Vision Pro's ultra-high-definition display, advanced spatial audio system, low latency, and sensitive controls take the gaming experience to new heights, while supporting multiple input methods, including popular game controllers such as Sony DualSense (now supporting multi-device pairing).
Enhanced Features for Professional Users and Enterprises
Users can leverage Apple Vision Pro to strongly boost workflows and explore new ways to realize creative ideas. Artists can use apps like Crayon and Da Vinci Eye to design new works. Photographers can use Mac virtual displays to edit color-accurate images using Pixelmator on MacBook Pro, anywhere and under any lighting conditions. Film crews can view spatial media (including panoramic photos and spatial videos shot on iPhone) on large surround displays to scout shooting locations wherever they are. Professional users can use Keynote to organize and rehearse presentations in a replica of the Steve Jobs Theater located at Apple Park. Users can use the digital stylus Logitech Muse, specifically built for Apple Vision Pro, to create and collaborate with higher accuracy. Apps such as Crayon, doppl by Interaptix, Sketch Pro, and Spatial Analogue will support Muse in the coming weeks.
Enterprises around the world are using Apple Vision Pro's spatial computing technology every day to invent new solutions and optimize operational processes in fields such as design, education, health, and sales. CAE, a multinational technology company focused on simulation and training solutions, uses Apple Vision Pro to provide pilots with highly realistic flight cockpit environments and scenarios, helping them complete flight training outside of professional training centers. At Porsche, car buyers can view and customize new cars in some showrooms before delivery. Visage seamlessly integrates digital content into the real world, providing high-quality 3D medical imaging to help hospitals like UC San Diego Health improve patient care.
